Equine Nutritional Testing

The Equine Energy Medicine Minerals and Metals Mane Test (MMMT) is a forage-first, anti-inflammatory equine nutrition assessment designed to help identify mineral imbalances, hidden stress patterns, and potential environmental metal exposures that may be impacting your horse’s health, performance, coat, hooves, metabolism, behavior, and recovery.

Using a small sample of your horse’s mane hair, the MMMT evaluates long-term mineral patterns rather than a single moment in time. This allows us to look at how the horse has been adapting over weeks to months, helping uncover trends that may contribute to issues such as:

  • Poor hoof quality or thin soles
  • Dull coat or skin irritation
  • Difficulty maintaining top line or muscle
  • Metabolic stress patterns
  • Inflammation and recovery challenges
  • Behavioral or nervous system stress signs
  • Electrolyte and hydration imbalance patterns
  • Performance plateaus
  • Chronic digestive sensitivity
  • Immune and seasonal stress support needs

Unlike generic feeding approaches, the Minerals and Metals Mane Test focuses on bioavailable minerals, forage-based nutrition, and reducing inflammatory inputs commonly found in modern equine diets, including grain, soy, corn, vegetable oils, excessive additives, and heavily processed feeds.

Each test is interpreted through a functional, patterns-based lens that considers mineral relationships and stress adaptation patterns — not just whether a mineral appears “high” or “low.” Recommendations are designed to support foundational physiology through nutrition, forage quality, mineral balancing, and environmental review.

This category includes:

  • Minerals and Metals Mane Test kits
  • Equine HTMA interpretation services
  • Mineral balancing support
  • Forage-first nutrition education
  • Functional equine nutrition resources
  • Certification and practitioner training opportunities through the Certified Equine Functional Nutrition Practitioner (CEFNP) program

The MMMT is intended strictly for nutritional and educational purposes and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Veterinary care should always be utilized for diagnosis, medical treatment, and emergencies.
